Topic Proposal: Inappropriate amount of time spent by youth in online games.

While growing up at a time where online games have become exponentially larger and more complex, the amount of time our younger generations spend starting into imaginary computers screens has also increased exponentially.  I have noticed myself and friends, at times playing these games for hours on end.  I believe online games are a major contributor to the large percentages of young people and obesity in our country.  Depression also seems to have a link with these games, as people try to escape into another world, and away from reality.  These can be seen comically portrayed in the TV show “The Office.” This is where Dwight Schrute is seen as being deeply depressed, and he continuously plays the online game Second Life to escape his own.  I do not believe this is good for people’s mental or physical health. As an enthusiast of games such as the Diablo series, and City of Heroes I can understand the pull these imaginary worlds have. However, for some they can encourage hiding from everyday problems.
