3/13/09 Individual Blog (Alex Kreul, wiki group)

I have now completed the majority of my writing (so far about 300 words), outlining the history of wikis and introducing the problems involved with wiki accuracy.  I am planning on doing a little experiment and taking some good screenshots ... maybe intentionally altering a Wikipedia page to be wrong, and seeing how long it is left like that, and if I get banned from editing pages in the future.  We'll see!

This week I looked at my inividual assignment.  I am charged with the task of researching attackers of net netrality that hale from the private sector.  This does not include ISP as that is another members task.  What it does include are other organizations that may have something to gain from removing net neutrality.

I will be finalizing the introduction and conclusion today.  I will also be compiling the first rough draft today also.  During meeting 4 we created the title page as well as the header and footer for the white paper.  A pie graph that illustrates the percentage of illegal vs. legal downloads was also created.

I have begun writing part of the background information for the white paper project. The portion I am writing is focused primarily on the way the RIAA detects filesharers and the problems associated with it. I plan to find a couple sources of RIAA court cases that were lost to illustrate the various problems with their accusations. Furthermore, I am investigating and writing about the legal rights and responsibilities of ISPs with regards to their users sharing copyrighted material. I will continue this work over break and hope to have this portion done by next Monday.

Censorship Group: Meeting 5

Our group met on Thursday, March 12 at 5PM in the computer lab in Beering where we normally hold class.  The members present were John, Brett, Hu, and Liz.  We put together all of our summaries into a rough draft and began to elaborate upon each as well as focusing on the formatting of the sections within our white paper.  The goal for the next meeting, scheduled to be the Monday after spring break ends, is to finish the details of our rough draft and add the completed citations page as well as complete and executive summary and a conclusion.
