INTERNET CENSORSHIP GROUP MEETING #2:
When/Where: In class Wed. Feb. 25th
Who: Mark, Paul, Dave
Goal: gather more information for white paper, discuss feedback from graded first memo
Topics: Gov't censorship, political control of internet. Net neutrality, ISP's vs google.
Decisions: use text from previous hearings in FCC about net neutrality, colombia prof's research
Tasks: gather info, email to finish new memo due fri.
Plans for next meeting: have completed memo turned in.
Other/etc: go liverpool fc!!!

Topics discussed: Censorware, Governments of the world and their stances on censorship, Corporate ISP, Net neutrality, applications of these topics to a government based proposal for  white paper.

Decisions: We each mailed each other the vision that we had for a proposal.

Delegations: Will was delegated to merge the proposals together

Entry 1

I am a member of the Wiki group. We are focusing on the issue of content control and validation. This particular week we are turning in our Topic Proposal Memo. I was personally responsible for the layout and formatting of the memo, as well as the actual typing and delivery of the memo.

I am in the piracy group, focusing on the ramifications and responses by internet service providers to the actions being taken by the RIAA in regards to music piracy.

So far, the group has collaborated about the proposal memo. I wrote the first draft of the memo and the rest of the group edited it and made some changes. I then integrated all the changes and composed the final draft of the memo.

Thus far I have participated in 2 group meetings tossing ideas around. 

I have proofread the memo draft and made recommendations on changes.

02/22/09 - ENGL 421 Chatzy

Goal: Make changes to memo for final draft

  - Changes were made to draft as advised by group

  - 2nd draft will be emailed out by Riddle before class

  - 2nd draft will be reviewed and changes made for final draft

Goals: Finalize topic, agree on next meeting

Topics discussed: Censorware, Governments of the world and their stances on censorship, Corporate ISP, Net neutrality

Decisions: We decided on the sub-topic of net neutrality and how it can be used for censorship. We also decided that our whitepaper's audience will be the government of the United States.

Delegations: We are all writing seperate draft proposals for Sunday, which we will merge together then.
